In a surprising mistake, Apple’s official support account in China accidentally shared a video promoting a Samsung foldable smartphone—the Galaxy Z Flip 7—on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
The video was meant to highlight Apple’s parental control features for the App Store. But instead of showing an Apple video, it featured a Samsung ad by mistake. The video was soon removed, but the error caught the attention of many.

This mix-up may have happened due to a copy-paste error, where the person handling the post copied the wrong video link. Another theory is that a local marketing agency managing both Apple and Samsung accounts in China may have made the mistake.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is considered a rival to Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which is still in development. According to JP Morgan, Apple may release its first foldable iPhone in September 2026, as part of the iPhone 18 series. It is expected to have a book-style fold, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.
So, while Apple works on launching its own foldable phone, it has accidentally given a bit of free promotion to Samsung in the meantime!
