Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya will undergo a routine fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12. This comes just before the Asia Cup 2025 squad selection.
Hardik, 31, has been training in Mumbai since mid-July. He played a key role in India’s victories in the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy, and the team will rely on his all-round performance for the Asia Cup starting September 9.

Before Hardik, Shreyas Iyer also completed his fitness test at the NCA between July 27 and 29. Shreyas, who recently led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, hasn’t played T20Is since December 2023. It’s still uncertain if selectors will include him in the Asia Cup squad.
Meanwhile, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is still recovering from sports hernia surgery he had in June in Munich, Germany. He will need another week at the NCA to regain full fitness. Recently, Surya shared a video on Instagram showing himself batting, exercising, and running, with the caption: “Can’t wait to be back doing what I love.”
Suryakumar had an outstanding IPL 2025 season, scoring 717 runs for Mumbai Indians and winning the Most Valuable Player award. He was the second-highest run-scorer after Sai Sudharsan, who scored 759 runs for Gujarat Titans.
Since taking over as India’s T20I captain after Rohit Sharma’s retirement, Suryakumar has led the team to 17 wins out of 22 matches.
The Asia Cup, which was in doubt after the India-Pakistan conflict in May 2025, has now been confirmed. The tournament will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28, with matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
