India is set to sign a 3000 crore deal to buy 500 Invar anti-tank guided missiles from Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
These powerful missiles will strengthen India’s defense, especially on the northern and western borders with China and Pakistan. The purchase highlights India’s push for self-reliance under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ programs.

So, what exactly are these Invar missiles? Developed originally by Russia, these missiles are now produced under license by BDL in India.
They are designed to be fired from the 125mm gun barrel of T-90 tanks, which are a backbone of India’s tank regiment. The missile’s range goes up to 5 kilometers, making it a precise and deadly weapon against enemy tanks and armored vehicles.
For the average Indian, this deal means a stronger and safer border. The tanks armed with these missiles can hit targets with extreme accuracy, reducing risks for soldiers. It also shows that India is steadily improving its defense technology and relying less on foreign suppliers.

The cost of the deal is estimated between Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 crore. In India’s defense purchase system, if a deal goes above Rs 2,000 crore, it requires approval from the Finance Minister, and anything beyond Rs 3,000 crore needs cabinet clearance. So this deal is significant in both size and impact.
A senior government official shared, “Invar missiles are specially designed to launch from tank platforms. This latest purchase will strengthen our tank regiments on critical borders.” The Ministry of Defence and BDL are finalizing details, and approval is expected soon.
Since the government sanctioned Rs 40,000 crore in emergency funds after Operation Sindoor to upgrade the army’s arms and ammunition, deals like this show the government’s commitment to keeping India’s borders secure.
Let’s face it — for Pakistan and China, this deal is a clear message: India is serious about its defense. For India, it’s a step toward stronger military readiness with homegrown manufacturing. The Invar missile deal blends precision, power, and patriotism in one neat package.
