Apple farmers from Himachal Pradesh are asking the Indian government to completely stop importing apples from Turkey. They are upset because Turkey reportedly helped Pakistan after a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people.
Farmers say that importing cheap apples from Turkey is hurting Indian apple growers. These apples are sold at low prices, which makes it hard for local farmers to earn enough money. Many are facing big losses and can’t even cover the cost of growing apples.

A group of farmers from the Himalayan Apple Growers Society (HAGS) went to Delhi to meet Union Minister Piyush Goyal. They gave him a letter explaining their concerns and demands. They asked for:
- A total ban on apple imports from Turkey.
- A higher Minimum Import Price (MIP) for apples from all countries.
- Strict checks to make sure imported apples don’t bring in pests or diseases.
The farmers also said it’s a national security issue. They believe India should not trade with countries that support terrorism.
Fruit sellers in big cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune also support this demand. Himachal ministers, including Vikramaditya Singh and Congress spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore, have also asked for a ban on Turkish apples.
Minister Piyush Goyal promised to look into the matter and take it seriously. The farmers said they will keep raising their voices until the government takes action.
