Muhammad Yunus Announces Bangladesh Elections for April 2026

Bangladesh’s interim leader, Muhammad Yunus, has announced that national elections will be held in April 2026. This decision comes as the country faces growing pressure and political uncertainty.

The political tension began last year when former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was removed from power and had to leave the country.

Yunus said the Election Commission will soon share a detailed plan about how and when the elections will take place.

“We will get a clear roadmap from the Election Commission at the right time,” he stated on Friday.
