
Bank of Baroda, a major government-owned bank in India, has opened its first phygital branch in Kolkata. This new branch is located inside Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at the NSB Airport Branch. The word “phygital” means the branch combines both physical and digital services to make banking easier and faster for customers.

With this new branch, Bank of Baroda now has seven phygital branches across India. These branches have special features like:
- Self-Service Kiosks: Machines with touch screens where customers can do many things on their own, such as updating their PAN details, getting account statements via email, downloading TDS certificates, and updating nominee information.
- Video Contact Centre: Customers can talk to bank staff through a video call for help with questions about home loans, savings accounts, fixed deposits, car loans, and other services that don’t need personal visits.
- Universal Service Desks: For customers who want to meet bank staff face-to-face, the branch has special desks where they can get all kinds of banking help.
The phygital branch aims to give customers more convenience by mixing digital tools with personal service.
Shri Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO of Bank of Baroda, officially opened the new branch along with other senior officials. He said this new branch is a big step towards improving customer experience by combining technology with personal assistance.
The Kolkata Zone is an important area for Bank of Baroda in West Bengal. It has 258 branches, with about one-third located in rural and semi-urban areas, serving many customers across the region.

In addition to the phygital branch, Bank of Baroda also opened a new e-Lobby in Kestopur to further improve customer service.
