A 24-year-old man named Raj Arya from the Izzatnagar area of Bareilly died by suicide on Wednesday, reportedly due to ongoing issues with his wife. The incident has shocked the local community.
According to police, Raj was found hanging in his room. His family said he took this extreme step because of continuous harassment by his wife, Simran, who is 23 years old.

Raj and Simran had a love marriage in April 2024. Just 45 days ago, they became parents to a baby girl. Both of them were working in private companies but recently lost their jobs. This led to stress and frequent arguments between the couple. About 10 days ago, Simran left Raj and went back to her parents’ house after a major fight.
On the morning of the incident, Simran allegedly posted two Instagram status updates. One said, “He will be in jail by 10:30 am,” suggesting she had filed a police complaint against Raj. The second post said, “Now go to jail.”
Later that evening, Raj told his mother, “Maa, I’m going to sleep forever.” At first, she didn’t realize what he meant. But when she checked on him a short while later, she found him hanging from the ceiling fan.
Police have sent Raj’s body for post-mortem. Circle Officer Ajay Kumar confirmed the case and said that legal action will be taken once the family files an official complaint.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the serious impact of mental stress and harassment in relationships, and the importance of timely support and communication.
