England’s star cricketer Ben Stokes created history during the 4th Test match against India at Old Trafford. On Day 4 of the match, Stokes became only the third player in Test cricket history to score over 7,000 runs and take 200 wickets. He now joins two cricketing legends—Jacques Kallis from South Africa and Garry Sobers from the West Indies—in this elite club. Importantly, Stokes is the first English player ever to achieve this milestone.

Players with 7000+ runs and 200+ wickets in Test cricket:
- Jacques Kallis: 13,289 runs / 292 wickets
- Garry Sobers: 8,032 runs / 235 wickets
- Ben Stokes: 7,000+ runs / 229 wickets
In the same match, Stokes also scored his 14th Test century, leading England with a strong performance. He stayed unbeaten on 77 runs as England ended Day 4 at 544 for 7, holding a 186-run lead. Despite briefly leaving the field due to leg discomfort, Stokes returned to continue his innings with teammate Liam Dawson.
Just a day earlier, Stokes crossed another milestone by reaching 11,000 international runs in all formats of the game. So far, he has scored 11,048 runs in 272 matches, averaging 35.88, with 19 centuries and 60 half-centuries. He has also been excellent with the ball in this series, leading with 16 wickets.
It’s been a memorable Test for England. On Day 3, former captain Joe Root scored his 38th Test century, and by doing so, surpassed Ricky Ponting to become the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history.
England is clearly dominating the series, with Ben Stokes and Joe Root delivering historic performances.
