In a shocking incident near Bengaluru, a 26-year-old man named Shankar was arrested after police found him riding a scooter with his wife’s severed head on the footboard.

The incident happened late Friday night near Heelalige village on the Chandapura-Anekal Road. Police stopped Shankar around 11:30 PM after they saw bloodstains on his clothes during a routine patrol. On checking further, they found the horrifying truth.

Shankar’s wife, Manasa, who was also 26, had been killed. The couple had been married for over five years and had a three-year-old daughter. They lived in a rented house in Heelalige. Both of them worked in private companies — Shankar in Koramangala and Manasa in Bommasandra.

According to the police, Shankar suspected that his wife was having an affair. This led to frequent fights between them. A few days ago, Manasa had even left their home to stay in a paying guest (PG) accommodation. She returned later, hoping to fix their relationship for the sake of their daughter, but the arguments continued.

On Friday, things took a deadly turn. After a fight, Shankar reportedly attacked Manasa with an axe inside their home. He then beheaded her and placed the severed head on his scooter before driving away.

Police arrested him early Saturday and took him to the local police station. A case has been filed, and further investigation is going on.
