The Bollywood box office struggles continue in 2025, with only a few films doing well. Apart from Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, most movies have failed to attract audiences. Actor Ajay Devgn, who is preparing for the release of his upcoming film Raid 2, shared his thoughts on this tough phase for the film industry.
At the trailer launch of Raid 2, Ajay was asked how he has managed to find success with franchise films like Drishyam 2 and Singham Again, especially after the pandemic. He said, “Right now, we are still struggling. We’re not sure what kind of films people will come to theatres for. But we think we have some understanding of how audience preferences have changed.”

Ajay explained that during the pandemic, people were exposed to a lot of international content through OTT platforms, and this has changed their expectations. “We are trying to adapt and change with time, but no one is completely sure yet. The entire industry is still trying to figure things out,” he added.

When asked if high ticket prices are keeping people away from cinemas, Ajay disagreed. He pointed out that audiences did show up for Chhaava, even with current ticket prices. “That’s not the issue,” he said. “People are choosing which movies they want to watch. If they like the trailer, teaser, songs, and the overall story, they will definitely come to the theatres.”
Ajay believes that it’s not about pricing but about strong content and better promotional strategies. He said, “We need to understand what the audience wants. If your trailer connects with them, they will come.”
In short, Bollywood box office struggles continue as filmmakers and actors try to understand the new tastes of the audience in a post-pandemic world. Content and presentation have become more important than ever.
