A Chennai woman has been arrested for sending fake bomb threat emails across 12 Indian states—just to frame a man who married someone else.

The woman, identified as Reni Joshilda, is not your average cybercriminal. She’s a senior consultant at Deloitte and has a background in robotics. But her personal heartbreak allegedly pushed her into a dark spiral of revenge.

Revenge That Rocked 12 States

According to Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police, Joshilda had a one-sided love for a man named Divij Prabhakar. When he didn’t reciprocate and married someone else in February 2025, she couldn’t handle the rejection. So she went to terrifying lengths to make him pay.

The Plot: Frame the Groom

In a twisted plan, the Chennai woman created several fake email accounts—some even under Prabhakar’s name—and sent bomb threats to key public places. These included the Narendra Modi Stadium, a medical college, and several schools. Some of the threats were timed during VIP visits and religious events to create maximum panic.

One of her emails even read: “Bomb successfully planted in Narendra Modi Stadium. Save the stadium if you can.” Another referred to the tragic 2023 Air India crash.

The scale of the hoax was massive—at least 13 fake threats across 12 states. The threats triggered major security alerts and evacuations.

Digital Slip-Up, Real Arrest

Joshilda tried to hide her identity using the dark web. She thought she covered all tracks. But as police said, a tiny digital slip-up exposed her. Cyber experts traced the email trail back to her residence in Chennai.

“We used our tech team to track her digital footprint. That’s how we caught her,” said Joint Commissioner Sharad Singhal.

Her home was raided, and police seized electronic devices that linked her to the threats. Investigations are still ongoing to find out if she acted alone or had help.

What’s Next?

Cyber police across the 12 affected states are now reviewing past threats to check if she was involved in similar crimes earlier.

For someone working at a top firm with a high-paying job and robotics expertise, this shocking misuse of tech reveals how obsession and rejection can derail even the most educated minds.

This case is not just about fake threats. It’s a serious wake-up call about how personal emotions, if unchecked, can lead to national panic. And how a Chennai woman’s heartbreak spiraled into a full-blown cyber crime wave.
