BYD has launched its new flagship SUV, the Tang L, in both electric (EV) and hybrid (PHEV) versions. The SUV is available in six different models, with prices ranging from $31,700 to $40,000. Built on BYD’s advanced Super e-Platform, the Tang L showcases the company’s latest design style, featuring a mostly closed front grill to highlight its eco-friendly identity.
The Tang L measures 5040mm long, 1996mm wide, and 1760mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2950mm, placing it in the mid-to-large SUV category. The vehicle is available with both six and seven-seat configurations.

Inside, the Tang L has a modern design with a wrap-around cockpit and a two-tone color scheme. It features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a fully digital dashboard. Some models offer an optional AR-HUD (augmented reality head-up display). The car’s air vents are neatly integrated into the design, and it also has an electronic shifter for a more modern center console layout.

One of the unique features of the Tang L is its integrated drone system, available on some models. The roof contains a compartment that holds a drone and its charging equipment. With the push of a button, the drone can be deployed, offering a flight range of up to 2 kilometers.
The Tang L also comes with the DiPilot 300 system, which includes advanced driver assistance features, including a roof-mounted LiDAR on higher trims. Additionally, it features the DiLink 150 intelligent cockpit system.
The electric version of the Tang L comes with both single and dual-motor options. The single-motor rear-wheel drive model has a powerful motor that delivers 580 kW (788 horsepower). The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version adds a front motor, reaching a total of 810 kW (1,100 horsepower), and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The all-electric versions come with a large 100.53 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 670 km for the rear-wheel-drive model and up to 600 km for the all-wheel-drive version. The drone-equipped model offers a range of 560 km.
One of the standout features is the vehicle’s fast-charging capability, allowing it to travel 400 km after just a 5-minute charge. It also supports dual-gun supercharging with up to 351 kW power.
For those interested in the hybrid version, the Tang L features BYD’s latest DM-P technology, combining a high-efficiency engine with dual electric motors. This allows the hybrid model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and achieve a fuel consumption rate of just 5.6 liters per 100 km in charge-depleting mode. The hybrid versions come with a 35.62 kWh battery, offering an electric-only range between 175 km and 215 km, depending on the model.
