A video of French President Emmanuel Macron getting “man-handled” by his wife Brigitte has taken the internet by storm. The clip shows Brigitte playfully pushing Macron’s face away as he prepares to leave a plane. The video quickly went viral, with many online users turning it into memes and slow-motion replays.
The video was shot by an Associated Press journalist. It shows Macron standing in the plane’s doorway, about to deboard.
Brigitte, still inside the plane cabin, suddenly extends her arms and pushes Macron’s face to the side. The president, caught off guard, quickly recovers and smiles. Then, he waves to the cameras before walking back inside the plane briefly. Eventually, the couple disembarks together calmly.
Macron himself didn’t make a big deal out of it.
Speaking to reporters in Hanoi, he called the moment a “joke,” saying they often share light moments like this. “We were just joking, as we often do,” he explained. Still, the internet trolls jumped in fast, giving the clip nicknames like “Macron got man-handled.”
An X (formerly Twitter) user posted a slow-motion clip of the moment and cheekily asked President Macron, “Feeling awkward yet?”

President Macron is currently on a week-long official tour of Southeast Asia, starting with Vietnam. He’s also scheduled to visit Indonesia and Singapore later this week.
