This decision was made due to national security concerns and growing political tensions, especially following Turkey’s support for Pakistan after a terror attack in Pahalgam, India.

Additionally, through its joint venture Çelebi NAS Airport Services, it manages about 70% of ground operations at Mumbai Airport and operates in nine cities, including Hyderabad, Cochin, and Chennai. The company offers important airport services such as passenger assistance, cargo and mail handling, flight and ramp operations, private jet services, and passenger boarding bridges. After the security clearance was revoked, some reports linked the decision to political connections involving the daughter of Turkish President Erdoğan, but Çelebi Aviation India strongly denied these claims, calling them misleading and false. The company emphasized that it is a professionally run, international business majority-owned by investors from Canada, the US, the UK, Singapore, the UAE, and Europe. This move has sparked calls in India to reduce cooperation with Turkish firms amid national concerns over Turkey’s political stance following the Pahalgam attack.
