The Indian Ministry of Defence is preparing a big order to buy 500 Invar missiles from Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL). This deal, worth between Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 3,000 crore, will equip India’s T-90 tanks with powerful anti-tank guided missiles.
The purchase aims to boost India’s armoured warfare strength along its western and northern borders.

The Invar missile is not just any weapon — it’s a precision-guided missile that can take down enemy tanks from a distance, giving India’s forces a sharper edge on the battlefield.
The Defence Ministry is still finalizing the contract value. Orders below Rs 2,000 crore get cleared by the Defence Minister, but this one is sitting in the Rs 2,000–3,000 crore range.
If it tips over Rs 3,000 crore, it will need Cabinet approval. This process shows how careful India is about defence spending — it’s not just about buying missiles but making sure every rupee counts.
Bharat Dynamics Ltd, the company behind these missiles, is a shining star in India’s “Make in India” defence push.

BDL makes many high-tech weapons for the Indian Armed Forces, and the Invar missile is a proven product. The company is also growing fast, with plans to triple production in the next decade to meet rising demand.
Interestingly, this missile procurement comes on the heels of Operation Sindoor.
After a terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, the Indian military launched a precise counter-operation using homegrown tech like drones and electronic warfare.
The success of Operation Sindoor showed India’s growing self-reliance in military hardware — and the Invar missile order fits perfectly into this narrative.
On a lighter note, you could say India is loading its T-90 tanks with smart missiles — it’s like giving your old sedan a rocket engine upgrade. The defence forces are not just toughening their muscles; they’re sharpening their brains too.
