Delhi Government Increases Minimum Wages by Up to ₹500 for All Workers

The Delhi government has announced a hike in minimum wages for all types of workers in the city. This new change will be effective from April 1. Workers will now get up to ₹500 more per month.

Here are the new minimum wages as per the worker categories:

  • Unskilled workers: ₹18,456 (earlier ₹18,066)
  • Semi-skilled workers: ₹20,371 (earlier ₹19,929)
  • Skilled workers: ₹21,917 (earlier ₹22,411)
  • Non-matriculate workers: ₹20,371 (earlier ₹19,929)
  • Matriculate but not graduates: ₹22,411 (earlier ₹21,917)
  • Graduates and above: ₹24,356 (earlier ₹23,836)

This increase is aimed at helping workers cope with rising prices and inflation. According to an official order by Joint Labour Commissioner KM Singh, if any worker is being paid less than the minimum wages, they can file a complaint with the joint or deputy labour commissioner in their district.

The last revision in minimum wages happened on October 1 last year. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has focused on improving wages and claims that Delhi offers the highest minimum wages in the country.

For comparison:

  • Rajasthan: ₹8,063
  • Madhya Pradesh: ₹10,000
  • Uttar Pradesh: ₹8,300
  • Haryana: ₹10,000
  • Chhattisgarh: ₹10,900

This wage increase is expected to benefit a large number of workers in Delhi and provide them financial relief.
