A shocking case of theft has come to light inside the Delhi Police’s Special Cell office at Lodhi Road. A Head Constable named Khurshid, who was recently transferred, has been arrested for stealing ₹51 lakh in cash and a large amount of jewellery from the maalkhana (evidence storage room).

The theft happened on Friday night, and the maalkhana in-charge noticed it soon after. CCTV footage helped identify Khurshid, and the Special Cell team arrested him the next day, on Saturday.

Police said Khurshid had worked in the maalkhana earlier and had access to the place. He was transferred to East Delhi just a few days before the incident.

In another case, on Sunday, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested a Nigerian national for possessing and planning to sell 282 grams of cocaine.

The accused, David Leanne, was caught in Old Mahabir Nagar, Tilak Nagar after police received specific intelligence about his activities. He was carrying a bag with a yellow powder, which the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed was cocaine—a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Apoorva Gupta said this operation was the result of detailed surveillance. Based on a tip-off, a trap was set up, and the accused was arrested.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing in both cases.
