Delhi woke up to heavy rain on Tuesday morning. The downpour brought relief from the heat but also caused problems across the city. Roads in many parts of south and southwest Delhi were flooded. Traffic moved slowly, and people struggled to get to work.

The rain started early in the morning. Within a short time, streets were full of water. Many areas reported waterlogging. Cars moved slowly through the flooded roads. Some bike riders got stuck. People waited at bus stops with wet shoes and soaked clothes.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that more rain is expected today. The sky will stay cloudy. There may be light to moderate showers through the day. On Wednesday, the same kind of weather is expected. On Thursday, it might just be light rain, the IMD said.

Despite the showers, Delhi’s air quality stayed okay. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 103. This is considered “moderate.” That means the air is not very clean, but not very bad either. The rain may have helped reduce the dust and pollution in the air.

The temperature was also normal for this time of year. The minimum temperature in the morning was 26 degrees Celsius. The maximum is likely to go up to 35 degrees Celsius. Humidity was very high at 83% around 8:30 am. This made the morning feel warm and sticky, even after the rain.

People shared photos and videos of waterlogged roads on social media. Some showed cars driving through knee-deep water. Others posted pictures of dark clouds and puddles outside their windows. Many complained about delays in traffic and trains. Others welcomed the rain and said it cooled down the city.

But for many daily commuters, the rain was a big problem. Office-goers and students faced long delays. Some autos refused rides. Some areas had power cuts for a short time. It was a mix of beauty and chaos — the kind of rain day that Delhi knows too well.

With more rain on the way, the city needs to stay alert. The municipal workers were seen clearing drains and trying to manage traffic.
