On July 18, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc Part 1 finally hit theatres in Japan—and it was nothing short of madness.
Fans waited in long lines late into the night. Theatres across 11 prefectures held special midnight shows, also called “fastest screenings.” Every single seat was booked in advance. Some fans even arrived in full cosplay, dressed as their favorite characters.

Photos and videos from these packed shows flooded social media. The term “fastest screening” started trending on X (formerly Twitter), showing how deeply fans love this franchise.
A Movie Day Like No Other
By early morning, the buzz got even louder. Major theatres like TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku showed the film up to 40 times on the first day. It wasn’t just a movie release—it felt like a festival.
Across cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, fans gathered in large numbers. Many wore Demon Slayer t-shirts, carried character keychains, and lined up outside cinemas hours before doors opened.
From early morning to late night, it was a full-day celebration.
What Is Part 1 About?
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Arc Part 1 is the beginning of a three-part film series. This part is titled Akaza Returns. It features Tanjiro and Giyu facing off against Akaza, one of the most powerful demons. Fans will also see the long-awaited fight between Shinobu and Douma.
The film is based on the final arc of the manga. It is directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable. Early reviews call it one of the studio’s best productions ever.
Why Is This Arc So Special?
This is the beginning of the end. The Infinity Castle arc brings all the remaining Upper Moon demons together. Every fight is bigger, more emotional, and more intense.
Global fans are eagerly waiting. From India to the U.S., everyone wants to see what happens next. And yes—there will be Hindi dubs and English subs too.
