A Diplomatic Standoff Avoided
Denmark has praised the US for altering a planned visit to Greenland, which had sparked tensions between the two nations.
The Danish government viewed the original trip, which included Usha Vance (wife of US Vice President JD Vance), as putting undue pressure on the semi-autonomous territory.

Instead of attending a popular dog-sled race, the US delegation, now led by JD Vance himself, will only visit the Pituffik Space Base in northern Greenland.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen called the move “very positive,” emphasizing that Denmark had no objections to the revised plan.
The tension arose after former President Donald Trump expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, causing diplomatic friction.
Denmark’s Prime Minister had earlier criticized the initial visit as “unacceptable pressure.” With the change, both nations seem to have eased the standoff—for now.
