60 Indians Rescued from Myanmar Cyber Slavery & Digital Arrests

Cybercrime officials have rescued 60 Indian citizens who were trapped in Myanmar and forced to take part in online scams like digital arrests and fake investment frauds. These people were misled with false promises of high-paying jobs abroad.

According to the cyber wing of Maharashtra Police, five people have been arrested, including a foreign national. One of the arrested, Manish Grey, also known as Maddy, is a known actor from web series and TV shows. The other four accused are Taisan alias Aaditya Ravi Chandran, Rupnarayan Ramdhar Gupta, Jensi Rani D, and Talaniti Nulaxi, a Chinese-Kazakhstani national.

How They Were Tricked:

  • Victims were targeted through social media with fake job offers in Thailand and other East Asian countries.
  • The agents helped with passports, flight tickets, and tourist visas to Thailand.
  • After reaching Thailand, the victims were secretly taken to Myanmar by crossing a river in small boats.

What Happened in Myanmar:

Once in Myanmar, they were held in guarded camps run by armed rebel groups. There, they were forced to work in cybercrime operations, such as:

  • Digital arrest scams, where fake officers threaten victims online.
  • Fake investment schemes, where people are tricked into sending money.

Shocking Revelations:

Officials also said that Talaniti Nulaxi was planning to set up a cybercrime base in India.

This case highlights a growing danger where innocent people are tricked into becoming part of digital frauds and cyber slavery. Authorities warn people to be careful of job offers that sound too good to be true, especially those found online.
