Elderly Couple in Karnataka Dies by Suicide After Losing ₹50 Lakh to Cyber Fraud

In a heartbreaking incident from Belagavi, Karnataka, an elderly couple ended their lives after falling victim to a cyber fraud scam.

DS Nazareth (81) and his wife Flaviana Nazareth (79), who lived in Beedi village, died by suicide on Thursday. They left behind detailed notes explaining their situation.

How the Scam Happened?

Nazareth received messages from an unknown person claiming that his ID card was being misused by cybercriminals. The scammers told him to contact the “crime branch” for help.

When he followed their instructions, these fake officials threatened him and tricked him into giving them large sums of money. Over time, the couple lost more than ₹50 lakh.

Their Final Note

In the death note, Nazareth wrote about the cyber fraud and clearly stated that no one else was responsible for their decision. He also mentioned that they owed a lot of money to others and suggested selling his wife’s jewelry to repay the loans.
