Elon Musk, the billionaire tech entrepreneur and supporter of US President Donald Trump, has officially launched a new political party called the “America Party”.
Musk said his goal is to “give people their freedom back” and to challenge what he called a “one-party system” in America, where both major political parties (Democrats and Republicans) are failing to represent the people.
This announcement came just one day after President Trump signed a major bill called the “One Big, Beautiful Bill”, which Musk strongly criticized. He called the bill “debt slavery” and said it would increase the national debt by $3.4 trillion in the next 10 years.

Musk used his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to ask people if they wanted a new political party. He posted a poll on July 4th, during Independence Day celebrations, asking:
“Should we create the America Party?”
The results showed that 65.4% of people voted ‘Yes’.
In a follow-up post, Musk said,
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!”

Musk and Trump, who were once close allies, had a falling out. Musk led a now-closed government agency focused on reducing federal spending and government jobs. He became critical of Trump’s new policies and accused both major parties of wasting money and being corrupt.
In response, Trump lashed out at Musk, threatening to cut federal funding from Musk’s companies and even suggesting that Musk could be deported — even though Musk became a US citizen in 2002 after immigrating from South Africa.

Now, with the launch of the America Party, Musk wants to give people a third option in politics and says it’s time to break away from the current two-party system.
