According to a report, Elon Musk once got into a physical fight with 62-year-old Scott Bessent, who was Donald Trump’s pick for Treasury Secretary. This was more than just an argument — Musk reportedly shoved Bessent during a heated confrontation in the White House.
The incident was shared by Steve Bannon, Trump’s former advisor and a known critic of Musk. Bannon claimed that the fight began when Bessent questioned Musk about his promise to cut government spending by a trillion dollars. Bessent accused Musk of failing to deliver, saying, “You promised us a trillion dollars in cuts, and now it’s only about $100 billion — where is the rest?”

That question apparently angered Musk, and according to Bannon, that’s when things got physical. The altercation reportedly started in the Oval Office, continued into the hallway near Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ office, and even reached National Security Advisor Mike Waltz’s office.
Bannon said this moment played a role in Musk’s exit from White House involvement, as Trump allegedly sided with Bessent, not Musk.
The White House, through spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, didn’t deny the incident. She stated that disagreements are normal in any strong team and everyone serves at the President’s pleasure.
This isn’t the first time reports have surfaced about tension between Musk and Bessent. Back in April, Axios reported a shouting match between the two. But Bannon now claims it was more serious — a full physical confrontation.

The report comes shortly after Musk appeared at a press conference with Trump on Friday, where he had a black eye. Musk said it was caused by his 5-year-old son X, and this older fight with Bessent had nothing to do with it.
Also, around the same time, Musk dismissed a New York Times article that claimed he was struggling with addiction and using ketamine.
