Former Karnataka Police Chief Om Prakash was found dead in his Bengaluru home on Sunday. Police sources say his wife, Pallavi, allegedly killed him during a fight.
According to reports, the 68-year-old retired officer and his wife got into an argument in the afternoon. During the fight, Pallavi reportedly threw chilli powder at him, tied him up, and stabbed him. He was also attacked with a glass bottle. His body had several stab wounds on the chest and abdomen.

After the incident, Pallavi called another police officer’s wife and told her that she had killed her husband. That woman then informed her husband, who alerted the police. When the police arrived at the scene, they detained Pallavi and the couple’s daughter. Both were questioned for around 12 hours.
Police believe Pallavi is the main suspect in this case. They are also looking into whether the daughter was involved. Reports suggest the couple had been arguing over a property dispute. Om Prakash had reportedly transferred some property to a relative, which led to the fight.

A case has been registered based on a complaint from Om Prakash’s son.
Bengaluru Additional Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar said they received the information about the murder around 4 AM.
Om Prakash was a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1981 batch. He had served as the Director General of Police (DGP) from 2015 and had also led the Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards. He was originally from Bihar and held a master’s degree in Geology.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said, “It’s true that the retired DGP Om Prakash has been murdered. As per early information, his wife is believed to be responsible, but the investigation is still going on. He was a good officer and a good person. This is very unfortunate.”
