In 2023 alone, over 74,000 Americans died from synthetic opioids, mostly fentanyl. Now, the U.S. is taking its fight global. FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on The Joe Rogan Experience that India is joining hands with the U.S. to shut down China’s fentanyl supply chain—a growing international threat.
So, what does this mean for everyday people?
This isn’t just about border security or drug laws. It’s about stopping a silent killer that’s wiping out a generation of young Americans. And while India doesn’t consume fentanyl, it’s being used as a transit point by Chinese chemical suppliers trying to sneak past global enforcement.

“The CCP is not in this for the money,” Patel said. “They’re targeting the U.S. on purpose.”
India’s role: Unwitting accomplice or future frontline?
According to Patel, Chinese suppliers are rerouting chemical precursors through India before shipping them off to Mexican cartels, who manufacture the final product. These precursors—like NPP—are essential to making fentanyl but are harder to track when sent through third-party nations.
“India is not the problem,” Patel clarified. “But if we don’t get ahead of it, it could become one.”
And that’s exactly why the FBI is now working directly with Indian authorities. Patel even said he was on the phone with the Indian government recently, urging them to crack down.

Indian firms under fire
Several Indian chemical companies are already feeling the heat. U.S. indictments have named firms like:
- Vasudha Pharma Chem Limited – accused of conspiring to send 4 metric tons of NPP
- Raxuter Chemicals and Athos Chemicals Pvt Ltd – also indicted for shipping precursors
The FBI plans to sanction, arrest, or indict these firms—either in the U.S. or in India.
The cartel’s new playbook: Canada
As U.S. pressure builds on southern routes, the Mexican cartels are getting creative. Patel warned they’re now using Canada—especially Vancouver—as a new trafficking hub. From there, the fentanyl network spreads globally.
It’s like playing whack-a-mole with a supply chain that never sleeps.
Strategic war, not street crime
Patel’s take? This isn’t just about drugs. It’s about targeted sabotage.
“Why don’t we take out generations of future U.S. soldiers, cops, and teachers?” he asked rhetorically—implying that’s exactly what the CCP wants.
This isn’t some Breaking Bad side hustle. It’s a geopolitical weapon, and India is ground zero—whether it wants to be or not.
