Planning to fly out of the new Navi Mumbai International Airport later this year? Be prepared to shell out more. Starting August 2025, passengers will have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF) ranging from Rs 270 to Rs 1,225, depending on the flight type and direction.

This new charge was cleared by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) in a stop-gap move, until the airport’s full tariff structure is finalized.

What You’ll Pay at Navi Mumbai Airport

If you’re departing on a domestic flight, your fee is Rs 620. Flying international? That’ll be Rs 1,225.
Arriving passengers won’t be spared either—Rs 270 for domestic and Rs 525 for international arrivals.

And don’t forget—these rates don’t include taxes. So the final amount will be higher.

Why the Charges?

This fee is temporary and will remain until March 31, 2026, or until a long-term pricing plan is locked in—whichever comes first.

The airport operator, Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), had asked for even higher fees—Rs 840 and Rs 1,500 for departures. But AERA stepped in, calling them “excessive,” and trimmed them down.

How Does It Compare to Mumbai Airport?

If you’re used to flying out of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), the difference is sharp. CSMIA charges Rs 207 (domestic) and Rs 726 (international)—and those prices already include taxes.

So yes, Navi Mumbai is way more expensive.

What Else is Changing?

The new airport will kick off operations with a capacity of 20 million passengers a year under Phase I and II.
By 2030, Phase III aims to scale that up to 50 million.
The total plan? Up to 90 million flyers per year in later phases.

Investment for this? A massive Rs 57,333 crore, including Rs 22,531 crore for the early stages.

Cargo operations also got a temporary green light from AERA, though the regulator asked NMIAL to simplify the fee structure before final approval.
Landing charges for international flights will follow a variable tariff plan (VTP) to pull in more airlines.

Navi Mumbai Airport is set to be a mega project—but passengers will help fund it from day one. With UDF charges higher than Mumbai’s existing airport, flyers will literally pay the price of progress.
