In a city filled with dreams, Ananya Bhattacharya is living hers — and living it boldly. From being in the top 5 in the Sananda Tilottama 2023 pageant, this young model is now stepping into the world of cinema with her first film Mrigaya: The Hunt, a gritty crime thriller set in Kolkata’s red-light district.
Ananya’s journey began with a dream many young girls carry — to become an actress. While others left their dreams behind, she held on.

Her first steps were in the world of modelling, walking the ramp with grace and style. But her heart always wanted something more — the big screen. She gave auditions, faced rejections, but kept going. Then, when she least expected it, came her big break — a role in Mrigaya, opposite none other than the actor she admires, Vikram Chatterjee.
The film, directed by Abhirup Ghosh and inspired by true events, is a neo-noir thriller that dives into a murder mystery in Kolkata’s Sonagachi area.
With seasoned actors like Ritwick Chakraborty, Anirban Chakrabarti, Priyanka Sarkar and Sourav Das in the mix, Mrigaya isn’t just any debut film — it’s a powerful launchpad. And in this intense drama, Ananya plays a brave and bold character, a choice that shows she isn’t here to play safe.

At first, the role felt daunting. She was nervous — it was her first time, the cast was full of experienced names, and the expectations were high.
But she didn’t back down. Ananya turned to National Award-winning actress Sudipta Chakraborty for guidance. Through workshops and support, she found the courage to bring her character to life. That strength, she says, is what helped her truly step into the role.
Behind the camera, her personal journey adds even more depth to her story. Her mother has always been her strongest supporter, standing by her dreams every step of the way.
But her father, protective and cautious, wasn’t keen on her joining the glamour world. She still waits for his approval, hoping that when he watches Mrigaya, his heart might change.
But Ananya’s dreams don’t stop here. She hopes to work in films with stars like Dev and Jeet and aims to carve her place in Bollywood too. She loves playing strong, even villainous roles — but her goal is clear: she wants to be a leading actress.
Mrigaya: The Hunt is more than just a movie for her — it’s a milestone. It marks the beginning of a journey she once only dreamed of as a little girl. With talent, grit, and an unwavering spirit, Ananya Bhattacharya is a name to watch — and her hunt has just begun.
