The recent statement by the G7 foreign ministers, condemning the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and urging “restraint” from both India and Pakistan, reeks of hypocrisy.
While the G7 preaches peace, their actions tell a different story—especially when they have just approved a $2.3 billion IMF bailout for Pakistan, a country that has long been accused of sponsoring terrorism against India.

Who Started This?
Let’s not forget the root cause of this conflict: Pakistan-backed terrorism.
The attack in Pahalgam was not an isolated incident but part of a long history of cross-border terrorism funded and facilitated by Pakistan’s deep state. India has every right to defend itself and retaliate against those who seek to destabilize the region. The G7’s call for “restraint” ignores the fact that India is not the aggressor—it is responding to repeated acts of terror.

Why Fund Pakistan While Preaching Peace?
The G7’s moralizing rings hollow when they continue to financially support Pakistan, a nation that has been on the FATF grey list for years due to its terror financing activities.
By approving billions in IMF funds, the West is effectively bankrolling the same regime that shelters terrorists targeting India. If the G7 truly cares about regional stability, they should cut off financial lifelines to Pakistan until it dismantles its terror infrastructure.
India’s Right to Self-Defense
No sovereign nation should be expected to tolerate terrorism. India has a duty to protect its citizens and eliminate threats to its security. The G7’s watered-down statement, which equates India’s defensive actions with Pakistan’s aggression, is a dangerous false equivalence. The world cannot expect India to “take it lying down” while terrorists freely operate from across the border.
Conclusion: A Call for Consistency
If the G7 is serious about peace, it should:
- Stop funding Pakistan until it takes verifiable action against terror groups.
- Unequivocally condemn Pakistan-sponsored terrorism instead of issuing balanced statements that ignore the real aggressor.
- Support India’s right to self-defense rather than preaching restraint when retaliation is justified.
India will not—and should not—back down in its fight against terrorism. The G7’s double standards only embolden Pakistan’s rogue behavior. It’s time for the West to choose: Are they with the victims of terrorism, or its sponsors?
