Google just made life easier. With the new Google Search with Gemini update, your AI can now call local businesses for you. Yes, really. It can check prices, timings, and availability. All this happens inside Search. No need to download another app or touch your phone.
Imagine this: you search for “laundry service near me.” A button pops up saying “Ask AI to call.” Tap it, and Gemini does the work. It will call the place, ask your questions, and give you the answers right there in the search results.

This is powered by the same smart tech that Google used earlier for booking haircuts and restaurants. Remember Google Duplex? That’s the tech behind it. But now, it’s baked into Search itself. Gemini calls, says it’s from Google, and asks about what you need.
Whether the business replies by talking or pressing buttons, Gemini understands and gives you a clean summary. This includes details like price, services, or how long something will take.
Who can use it?
Right now, this AI calling feature is only available in the US. Anyone can use it. But if you’re on Google AI Pro or AI Ultra, you can use it more times than regular users.
Local businesses can also choose if they want to get these AI calls. They can manage it from their Google Business Profile.
This update makes Gemini more than just a chatbot. It’s becoming your digital helper for real-life tasks. No more wasting time on phone calls or getting stuck on hold. Google is turning Search into a tool that acts, not just answers.
Bigger updates
The call feature is just one part of the new Gemini 2.5 Pro update. Google also added “AI Mode” in Search. You can switch between different Gemini models and do Deep Search, which gives you smart summaries for tough questions.
From finding the cheapest dry cleaner to checking if your local laptop shop is open, this update makes things faster and smoother.
Google Search with Gemini is not just about links anymore. It’s about action. It shows where AI is headed—towards doing real-world tasks for you.
