India is taking a strong stand against vulgar content online. The govt bans Ullu, Big Shots, and 23 other apps and websites for pushing obscene material. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has blocked 25 links that were showing adult content and sexually explicit ads.
This includes popular names like ULLU, Big Shots, ALTT, and lesser-known apps like Boomex, Desiflix, NeonX VIP, Feneo, and more.

Why Did the Ban Happen?
The I&B Ministry found these platforms guilty of violating Indian laws. They were showing pornographic ads and objectionable videos. These kinds of promotions break multiple rules, including:
- Section 67 & 67A of the IT Act, 2000 (about obscene and sexually explicit content)
- Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
- Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986
Once the authorities got proof, they ordered internet companies (ISPs) to block these apps and sites in India.
Who Got Banned?
The govt bans Ullu, Big Shots, ALTT, and these platforms too:
Bull App, ShowX, Look Entertainment, Fugi, Mojflix, MoodX, HotX VIP, Wow Entertainment, Hitprime, Navarasa Lite, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, Triflicks, Hulchul App, Gulab App, Jalva App, and Kangan App.
Some of these apps had lakhs of downloads. Many viewers complained about their bold and adult-themed content, which crossed legal and cultural lines.
What Does the Law Say?
The government pointed out Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act. This section says if a platform is told by the government to remove bad content and doesn’t act fast, it loses legal protection. That means the platform becomes fully responsible for its content.
So these platforms are not only banned, but they could also face more legal trouble.
What’s Next?
This ban is part of a larger digital clean-up by India. The government wants safer online spaces, especially for the youth. This move shows India is serious about controlling vulgar content on the internet.
If apps break the rules, they will be blocked. Simple.
