Gujarat Titans (GT) climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with a dominant 58-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday night. The star of the match was GT’s opening batsman, Sai Sudharsan, who scored a brilliant 82 runs, hitting eight fours and three sixes. His impressive performance was a key part of GT’s total score of 217 for six in 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals, who were asked to bowl first, struggled to chase the big target. They managed to score just 159 runs in 19.2 overs. Only Shimron Hetmeyer, who made 52 off 32 balls, and captain Sanju Samson, who scored 41 off 28 balls, provided any real resistance.

GT’s bowlers played a key role in their win. Prasidh Krishna impressed with figures of 3 for 24 in 4 overs, showing his improved T20 bowling skills. Rashid Khan also bounced back from a tough start to take 2 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs. Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore continued his strong run with 2 wickets for 20 runs in just 2.2 overs.

Sudharsan’s all-round performance didn’t stop at batting. He also took two crucial catches, removing Dhruv Jurel and Maheesh Theekshana. With his recent form, Sudharsan has made a strong case for a place in India’s T20 team. He has scored 273 runs in just 5 matches at an average of 54.60 and a strike rate of 151.66. He is currently the second-highest run scorer in IPL 2025, with only Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants ahead of him.
While Sudharsan led the charge for GT, Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan also made valuable contributions. Buttler scored 36 off 25 balls, and Shahrukh Khan made 36 off 20 balls. Rahul Tewatia finished off the innings with an unbeaten 24 from 12 balls.
Sudharsan’s knock was especially impressive as he weathered a tough spell from RR’s Jofra Archer. Archer, who had previously been struggling, bowled a 152.3 km/h bouncer that took Sudharsan’s top edge, but the young batter remained calm. Sudharsan and Buttler then counter-attacked, adding 80 runs in just 47 balls for the second wicket.
