Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was clearly upset after his team lost a close match to Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium. He strongly criticized the no-balls bowled by him and his teammates, calling them a “crime” in T20 cricket.
The match was tight and affected by rain. At one point, Mumbai was ahead by five runs using the DLS method after 18 overs. As the rain stopped play, Mumbai hoped it would continue long enough for them to win. But there was just enough time for a one-over shootout to decide the match.

Gujarat needed 15 runs from six balls in the final over. Mumbai had only four fielders outside the inner circle because they were penalized for a slow over rate. Deepak Chahar bowled the last over. He gave away a boundary and a six, then bowled a no-ball, which gave Gujarat a big advantage. They took full control and won the match.

Hardik also made two no-ball errors earlier in the game. On top of that, Mumbai dropped an important catch when Tilak Varma couldn’t hold onto a chance from Gujarat’s captain Shubman Gill.
After the match, Hardik said, “The dropped catch didn’t hurt us much, but the no-balls — including mine and the last one — are like a crime in T20 cricket. They usually come back to hurt you. Still, I’m proud of the team for giving more than 100% and fighting till the end.”

Mumbai’s batters didn’t score enough runs. Only Will Jacks (53), Suryakumar Yadav (35), and Corbin Bosch (27) made useful contributions. They finished with 155/8, which was below par.
Even with a low total, Mumbai’s bowlers fought hard. Jasprit Bumrah took key wickets, including Shubman Gill and Shahrukh Khan. Trent Boult also dismissed Sherfane Rutherford, keeping MI in the game.

Hardik admitted the team fell short by 20-30 runs and praised the bowlers for their efforts. “It wasn’t a 150-run pitch. We should’ve scored 175. The bowlers did their job, but we couldn’t finish the match,” he said.
Rain delays made the match tricky. Hardik noted that the ball got wet in the second innings, which made it tough for the bowlers. “Rain kept coming and going. It wasn’t ideal, but we had to play and we did our best,” he added.
Despite their best efforts, Mumbai’s mistakes — especially the no-balls — cost them a crucial game in the race for playoffs.
