Rockets fly, tensions rise—will the fragile peace between Israel and Lebanon hold?
On March 28, the Israeli military reported intercepting one of two projectiles launched from Lebanon. The second projectile landed inside Lebanon, causing no damage in Israel.
Defense Minister Israel Katz swiftly warned that Lebanon would be held responsible for any threats to Israel’s security, particularly in the Galilee region.

Escalation and Denial
The next day, Israeli artillery and airstrikes targeted southern Lebanon in retaliation, killing at least eight people. This marked a dangerous escalation, straining a year-long truce with Hezbollah, Lebanon’s powerful armed group.
Surprisingly, Hezbollah denied involvement, stating it had “no link” to the rocket fire and reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire.
Israel’s Strong Stance
Katz emphasized Israel’s determination to protect its citizens: “We will ensure the security of the residents of Galilee and will act forcefully against any threat.” The situation remains tense, with fears of further clashes despite Hezbollah’s denial.
