The Huawei Mate XT 2 is all set to turn heads this year. The phone, codenamed Greenlan, could launch in China as early as September. And if leaks are true, it will come in not just one or two, but four bold colours.
Last year, Huawei shocked the tech world with the Mate XT Ultimate Design—the world’s first tri-fold phone. Now, the company is preparing to go even bigger with the Huawei Mate XT 2.

More Colour, More Style
A trusted tipster on Weibo, Digital Chat Station, has revealed that the Mate XT 2 will offer more colour choices than before. The original came in just Dark Black and Rui Red. This time, we may see black, purple, red, and white versions.
It looks like Huawei wants this phone to appeal to a wider audience—and they know design matters.

What to Expect Inside
The Huawei Mate XT 2 is expected to bring big changes inside as well. Leaks suggest the phone will upgrade to the Kirin 9020 chip. This is a step up from the Kirin 9010 that powered the last version. That means faster speed and better performance.
Also, camera lovers have reason to be excited. The new model may include a 50MP main rear camera with variable aperture and an improved periscope zoom lens. Plus, satellite connectivity could be part of the package.
Even with all these upgrades, the display and battery might stay the same as the first-gen model.
Tri-Fold Tech Gets a Boost
The Huawei Mate XT 2 will be the second mass-produced tri-fold phone in the world. That’s a big deal. The first was also from Huawei.
Samsung is also working on a tri-fold device, but Huawei seems to be racing ahead. The new Mate XT 2 is expected to be more widely available than the earlier version, which launched only in China. A global launch may happen later.
Price and Launch Timeline
Huawei has not confirmed the price yet. But the original Mate XT Ultimate Design started at CNY 19,999 (about ₹2,35,900). So expect a premium price tag.
The Mate XT 2 could launch in September 2025. Regulatory filings have already been spotted online under the model number GRL-AL20.
