Would you risk arrest just to meet your idol? This 18-year-old did—and has no regrets!
The Dramatic Pitch Invasion
During the KKR vs. RCB IPL match at Eden Gardens on Saturday, an 18-year-old fan, Rituparno Pakhira, jumped the fence and sprinted onto the field. His mission? To touch the feet of his “god,” Virat Kohli. The young cricketer, overwhelmed with emotion, even got a hug from Kohli before security dragged him away.
Instead of scolding him, Kohli picked him up, asked his name, and told him, “Jaldi se bhaag ja” (run away fast). He also instructed security not to harm the boy. Rituparno later gushed, “I don’t regret it. I touched my god!”

Legal Consequences
Rituparno was arrested and charged under BNS sections for trespassing and endangering safety. He spent a day in police custody, where the magistrate advised him to “be like Kohli in life”—without breaking rules. He was later granted bail but banned from Eden Gardens for the rest of the IPL season.
A Family’s Plea
His mother, Kakali, pleaded for mercy, explaining how her son idolizes Kohli. His father, a farmer, shared how they’ve supported his cricket dreams since childhood. Rituparno, a budding cricketer himself, trains in Beleghata and called this pitch invasion his “childhood dream.”
