Maharashtra, which has seen the most Covid deaths recently with 17 in the past few weeks, reported one more death. This brings the total Covid deaths in the state to 18.

Kerala reported one Covid death of a cancer patient, making the total deaths in the state 12. Tamil Nadu also reported one Covid death.

With these new deaths, the total number of Covid deaths in India this year has reached 59. Currently, there are 5,755 active Covid cases in the country.

Because of the rise in cases and deaths, the central government is conducting practice drills to check if hospitals and health centers are ready to handle Covid patients. States have also been asked to make sure there are enough oxygen supplies, isolation beds, ventilators, and medicines available.

Officials said that most of the current Covid cases are mild and can be treated at home.

To keep track of the situation, several meetings were held on June 2 and 3, led by Dr. Sunita Sharma, the Director General of Health Services. These meetings included representatives from various health and disease control departments and state officials.
