Virat Kohli gave a special shout-out to fast bowler Mohammed Siraj for his outstanding performance in India’s dramatic six-run win against England in the fifth Test at The Oval. This win helped India level the five-match Test series in London on Monday.

India had set England a target of 374 runs to win. On the final day, England needed only 35 more runs with four wickets in hand. But Siraj stepped up under pressure, taking three of those last four wickets. His performance was key to one of India’s most memorable victories in England.

Siraj finished the series as India’s highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets, including a fantastic five-wicket haul in the final Test. Kohli took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise him, saying,
“Great win by Team India. Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh has given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him.”

The final morning of the Test saw England collapse from 339/6 to 367 all out. Siraj removed Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in quick succession. Chris Woakes, England’s last batter, came in injured, with 17 runs still needed. Gus Atkinson hit a six and tried to push for the win, but Siraj bowled him out to seal the match.

Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh also praised the team. He said,
“This is what self-belief looks like. The boys have delivered one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent Test cricket.”

He highlighted Siraj’s five-wicket haul, Prasidh Krishna’s calm under pressure, and Akash Deep’s maturity. He also praised Shubman Gill for his leadership and performance as captain, calling him the “Player of the Series.”

Yuvraj added,
“This victory is built on resilience, trust, and the hunger to finish strong. The boys retain the trophy and win the respect of the cricketing world. Congratulations to the entire team and coach Gautam Gambhir.”
