
Zambian customs officials reported on Saturday that they arrested an Indian man who tried to smuggle over $2 million (about Rs 17 crore) in cash and gold worth $500,000 through the country’s main airport.
The 27-year-old man was on his way to Dubai, UAE, when he was caught by a special team of officials at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

Officials found $2,320,000 in cash and seven gold pieces valued at $500,000. The money was packed in a black bag and placed inside a larger suitcase. Zambian media showed pictures of the cash, which was stacked in bundles of $100 bills tied with rubber bands.

The man’s smuggling attempt was stopped by a multi-agency team, including the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
