A 30-year-old Infosys employee, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, was arrested by Bengaluru Police for secretly recording a female colleague inside a women’s washroom at the company’s Electronics City office.

The incident happened on June 30, when a 35-year-old woman, who works as a Technical Test Lead, noticed a reflection on the washroom door. She later spotted a mobile phone being held from the next cubicle. When she climbed up to check, she reportedly saw a man standing on the commode, trying to film her.

The woman immediately ran out and informed her colleagues, who stopped the man from leaving. He was identified as Swapnil Nagesh Mali, a Senior Associate Consultant, who had joined Infosys just three months ago. He is originally from Sangli, Maharashtra.

Upon checking his phone, colleagues allegedly found a video of the woman, another video of a different Infosys employee, and over 50 videos downloaded from the internet. Police confirmed that a screenshot was saved as evidence before the original video was deleted.

The woman reported the incident to Infosys HR and later filed a police complaint with her husband’s help.

Police have filed a case under Section 77 (voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other sections under the IT Act. Investigations are still going on.

So far, Infosys has not released an official statement on the incident.
