Infosys offers ₹700 reward to staff for interview participation

For the first time, Infosys, India’s second-largest IT company, has launched a cash reward program to encourage employees to help in hiring new staff. Under this new policy, Infosys will pay ₹700 per interview to senior employees who take part in the recruitment process.

This reward is only for interviews done in India and is aimed at increasing employee involvement in lateral hiring (hiring experienced professionals instead of freshers from colleges). It is also being seen as a way to boost staff morale, especially when salary hikes and bonuses have been lower than expected.

The reward is being given to technical team members such as track leads, architects, and project managers at levels JL5 and JL6. These employees usually conduct 2–3 rounds of interviews before the HR team steps in. The reward scheme is active from January 1, 2024, meaning employees can also claim rewards for interviews conducted earlier this year.

During weekend hiring drives, employees often conduct 10–15 interviews in a day, especially for roles involving Python, Java, Machine Learning, DevOps, and more. This new ₹700 incentive is designed to increase participation in such interview sessions.

However, HR staff, talent acquisition teams, contractors, and top-level management are not included in this reward program. Employees will not receive the money if an interview is cancelled or if the candidate does not show up.

Earlier, Infosys only gave compensatory leave for such efforts, especially during weekend recruitment events. But now, with the IT industry facing a shortage of skilled workers—especially in fields like Artificial Intelligence—Infosys has introduced this new cash reward plan to motivate its staff and attract top talent.

Other companies like Honeywell, Accenture, and Sonata Software also offer similar incentives to encourage employees to join interview panels.

This move by Infosys comes at a time when the company is trying to improve hiring quality while also dealing with slow global demand and reduced employee bonuses.
