A Nation in Crisis
A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, leaving over 1,000 dead and countless others trapped under rubble. The quake, which hit during lunchtime, caused widespread destruction, damaging roads, bridges, and hospitals.
The military government, already struggling with a civil war, made a rare plea for international help as rescue teams scrambled to save lives.

Neighboring Thailand Also Affected
The tremors were felt hundreds of miles away in Bangkok, Thailand, where a skyscraper under construction collapsed, trapping at least 30 workers.
Nine people died in Thailand, with 49 still missing. Rescue teams worked tirelessly, using drones and sniffer dogs to locate survivors.

Countries like China, Russia, India, and the U.S. quickly mobilized aid. South Korea pledged $2 million in humanitarian assistance, while India sent supplies and personnel. Despite political tensions, even the U.S. offered support.
Meanwhile, survivors in Myanmar shared heartbreaking stories—like Htet Min Oo, who lost hope of finding his buried relatives alive.
Experts warn the death toll could rise further, with the U.S. Geological Survey predicting losses exceeding Myanmar’s annual economic output. As rescue efforts continue, the world watches, hoping for miracles amid the rubble.
