Amit Mishra, the former India cricketer, recently shared his thoughts on how decisions were made during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He explained that while KL Rahul had a lot of control over decisions when he was the captain, this season things seem to be more of a team effort.
Mishra also addressed the media’s portrayal of LSG’s owners as being overly demanding. He mentioned that although Rahul used to handle most of the important work behind the scenes last year, this year, everyone seems to be involved in decision-making. For example, Rishabh Pant, the new captain, has been seen discussing things with Zaheer Khan and other team members in the dugout.

After the 2024 season, LSG made some major changes, including parting ways with Rahul and bringing in Rishabh Pant, who became the most expensive player in IPL history.

Mishra, who played for LSG in 2023 and 2024, said, “Last year, KL Rahul was in full control, setting the playing XI and making plans. But this year, it’s different. Everyone is involved in the decision-making.” He also added that he never saw the owners, like Sanjiv Goenka, being too involved. “The owner never raised his voice or criticized anyone in the dressing room. He was always positive. I think the media made a bigger deal of it than it really was,” Mishra said.
