Iran just issued its most direct warning yet. In a fiery statement, Iran’s top military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaqari called U.S. President Donald Trump a “gambler” and said, “You may start this war, but we will end it.”

The threat came after the U.S. launched a powerful strike on Iran’s nuclear sites over the weekend, especially the Fordow facility buried deep underground. While the extent of the damage is still unclear, satellite images suggest the attack hit hard.

Fordow Hit, Iran Reacts

The Fordow site, known for enriching uranium, was reportedly targeted with bunker-buster bombs and Tomahawk missiles. Trump proudly posted on Truth Social that the strike caused “monumental damage” underground.

But Iran wasn’t caught completely off guard. A senior official told Reuters that most of the enriched uranium was moved before the attack. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not confirmed how much damage was done but said no dangerous radiation has leaked.

Iran Fires Back, But Holds Back

After the U.S. strikes, Iran responded by launching missiles at Israel. Buildings were hit and dozens wounded in Tel Aviv. Still, Iran hasn’t yet taken its most feared steps—like targeting U.S. bases or blocking the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway that handles 20% of the world’s oil shipments.

If Iran blocks the strait, global oil prices could skyrocket. That would hit the global economy hard and risk a direct clash with the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain.

Oil markets are already reacting. On Monday, Brent crude jumped 1.44% to $78.12 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude rose to $74.87.

Trump Plays Offense, Iran Promises Endgame

Trump, sticking to his aggressive tone, warned Iran not to retaliate—or face “far greater” attacks. But Zolfaqari fired back, saying Iran’s military now considers the U.S. “a direct party in this war.”

For now, the world is watching. Will Iran go further? Will Trump push harder? Or will diplomacy find space in this game of high-stakes threats?
