According to reports, Ishan Kishan has suffered an ankle injury after falling from a scooty. He had ten stitches on his left foot, and although the stitches have been removed, his ankle is still in a plaster. A source revealed that the selectors did contact Ishan, but only recently, and he is not fit to play.

Ishan Kishan, a left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand, was considered a perfect replacement for Pant. He had recently performed well playing for Nottinghamshire, scoring 87 and 77 in matches against Yorkshire and Somerset.
However, with both Pant and Kishan injured, India will now rely on backup options like Dhruv Jurel for the ongoing Test.
