The last person seen with her was Joshua Riibe, a 24-year-old tourist from Iowa, who has since been identified as a “person of interest” in the case.
Who is Joshua Riibe?
Joshua Riibe, a former wrestler and football player from Iowa, was also on a spring break trip at the same resort. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a senior at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Riibe told authorities that he last saw Konanki before he fell ill and passed out. However, his accounts of the events have been inconsistent, raising questions about what truly happened that night.

What Does the Surveillance Footage Show?
Surveillance footage from the resort captured Konanki walking with Riibe and her friends towards the beach around 4:15 am. The footage shows her clinging to Riibe as they headed to the beach. Most of the group returned to the hotel, leaving Konanki and Riibe alone. What happened next remains unclear, with Riibe providing three different versions of events to the police.
The Search for Answers
Authorities suspect that Konanki may have drowned after entering the ocean wearing a brown bikini. However, her father, Subbarayudu Konanki, has expressed concerns about possible kidnapping, as her body has not been found. He has requested broader search operations, emphasizing that her phone and wallet were left behind, which is unusual for her.

The Loudoun County sheriff’s office, along with the FBI and Dominican National Police, are working closely to uncover the truth. Sheriff Michael Chapman has emphasized that the investigation remains a missing person case, with no accusations of wrongdoing against Riibe at this stage.
