Green Mobility Takes Center Stage in Karnataka’s Rs 50,000 Crore Plan

Karnataka is leading with a Rs 50,000 crore plan to boost electric mobility—see how it’s building a greener future!

Karnataka’s Bold Step Towards Electric Mobility

In a big move for green energy, the Karnataka government has announced a Rs 50,000 crore plan to boost electric vehicle (EV) use and infrastructure. This plan, part of the Karnataka Clean Mobility Policy 2025-30, aims to make the state a leader in sustainable transport.

Modern EV Infrastructure

A key part of the plan is building a new EV testing track and an EV cluster in Bengaluru. With Rs 25 crore set aside, this cluster will help both startups and big companies by providing important infrastructure. The testing track, built to global standards, will help develop and certify new EVs, batteries, and charging tech.

Creating Jobs and Boosting the Economy

Karnataka hopes to attract Rs 50,000 crore in investments from the clean mobility sector in the next five years. This is expected to create around 1 lakh new jobs, helping the economy and promoting green transport.

Electrifying Public Transport

As part of its plan, Karnataka will add 14,750 electric buses under schemes like PM e-DRIVE and PM-eBus Sewa. Of these, 9,000 buses will go to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). In 2024-25 alone, the state added 716 electric buses, a big step towards cutting carbon emissions.

Encouraging EV Use at the Grassroots

To boost EV use, the government offers up to Rs 3 lakh in aid for unemployed individuals from backward classes to buy electric four-wheelers. This helps clean mobility and creates new jobs.

Strengthening Renewable Energy

Karnataka is also investing in renewable energy with a 1,000 MWh battery storage facility. This Rs 1,846 crore project will cover seven sub-stations, ensuring stable power for the growing EV infrastructure.

A Greener Future Ahead

Karnataka’s plan shows its commitment to a sustainable and eco-friendly transport system. By investing in modern infrastructure, promoting EVs, and using renewable energy, the state is building a greener future.

This initiative makes Karnataka a leader in clean mobility and sets an example for other states to follow in sustainable development.
