In a shocking case from Karnataka, conman Rohan Saldanha has been arrested for running a multi-crore scam using fake loans, secret rooms, and a flashy lifestyle. His story sounds like a movie, but it’s very real.

Saldanha, 45, lived in a big bungalow in Mangaluru’s Jappinamogaru. It looked like a palace. He used it to build trust and show off his “success”. But behind the fancy doors was a well-planned scam.

He told people he was a big-time financer. He promised large business loans—₹10 crore, ₹100 crore, no problem. Rich businessmen from Karnataka and beyond came to him, thinking they had found a money saviour.

Saldanha didn’t stop at just promises. He had a whole act. He introduced a fake lawyer to his clients. This lawyer used the name of a well-known advocate from the area. Victims were made to believe everything was real.

Once trust was built, he asked for advance payments. Things like registration charges, stamp duty, and processing fees. These payments ran into crores of rupees. Some people even paid up to ₹10 crore.

Then, just like that, he vanished.

Police raided his house—and found more than they expected. His home had hidden chambers. Behind closets and wardrobes were secret rooms. Cops believe he used these to hide from people, and even law enforcement.

These hideouts were smartly built. They gave him time to escape or go into hiding whenever someone came looking.

The total scam value is believed to be around ₹40–50 crore in just a few months. But it could be much more, as many victims haven’t spoken out yet. Some feel embarrassed, others are scared.

Police have registered three FIRs so far—two in Mangaluru, one in Chitradurga. They are now looking for more victims and possible partners in the crime.

Saldanha was finally arrested after one of the victims filed a case. Police are now investigating the full scale of the scam. They’re also urging others who were cheated to come forward.

This scam is not just about money. It’s about how illusion, trust, and luxury were used to cheat people who thought they were smart.
