South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has publicly denied claims that he dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was underage. At an emotional press conference on Monday, March 31, the 37-year-old star insisted, “I cannot admit what is not true.”
Kim admitted they dated five years ago for about a year, but emphasized that Kim Sae-ron was not a minor at the time. The allegations surfaced in a YouTube exposé earlier this month, which included what Kim called “false testimonies and fabricated messages.”

Fallout and Legal Action
The scandal has already cost Kim Soo-hyun major brand deals, including Prada. Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron, who was found dead in February in a suspected suicide at age 24, had seen her career decline after a 2022 drunk driving incident.
Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team has filed lawsuits seeking 12 billion won ($8.15 million) in damages against those behind the YouTube video, citing defamation and violations of privacy laws.
