India’s star batsman and only centurion in the Lord’s Test, KL Rahul, shared an emotional message on social media after India’s narrow 22-run defeat against England. The loss puts India behind 1-2 in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rahul wrote, “Some games are more than wins or losses. They test your spirit, your character, and the learnings make you stronger.”
On Day 5 of the Test, Rahul and vice-captain Rishabh Pant started the innings for India. But things went downhill quickly. Pant was bowled out early by Jofra Archer, and soon after, Rahul was dismissed by Ben Stokes. These quick dismissals caused a batting collapse, leaving too much pressure on the lower-order players like Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, who still fought hard till the end.
Former India coach Ravi Shastri spoke on The ICC Review, pointing out two key moments that turned the match in England’s favor.
He said the first turning point was Pant’s run-out in the first innings. “Ben Stokes showed great presence of mind by throwing to the right end just before lunch. If Pant had stayed, India might have taken a strong lead.”
The second major mistake, according to Shastri, was Karun Nair’s dismissal in the second innings. “At 40/1, leaving a straight ball like that was a big lapse in concentration. That opened the door for England,” he said.

Despite the defeat, a special moment followed. The Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams were invited to Clarence House, where they met King Charles III. Players like Bumrah, Pant, and Shubman Gill interacted with the King during this royal meeting in London.
The Lord’s Test may have ended in heartbreak, but for KL Rahul and the team, it’s a reminder of how tough and emotional the game of cricket can be.
